For the development of this center, the Cypriot government and the Cleanthous Foundation, which is financing the project, signed an agreement on February 15. The official signing ceremony was attended by President Nikos Christodoulides, Minister of Health Michael Damianos, Chairman of the State Health Services Organisation OKYpY Marinos Kallis, and representing the Cleanthous Foundation, Maria Charalambides and Costas Cleanthous.
Maria Charalambides described the arrival of this pediatric oncology center as "an investment in life, hope, and the future." Speaking at the ceremony, she emphasized: "We want to create an environment where children feel safe and supported. A place where they can dream, learn, continue to develop, and above all, heal." This center will therefore be inspired by the Princess Máxima Center in Utrecht, which is completely designed from the perspective and needs of children and their parents.
Thomas Bögl was also present. He explains: "With the signing of this agreement, our collaboration with the Cleanthous Foundation has entered a new phase. In the coming period, we will translate their objectives into a design. We want to create a place where children, despite their illness, can continue to develop as normally as possible. In doing so, we will utilize our experience with the Princess Máxima Center to create an ideal environment here as well."
