LIAG strengthens partnership: Harmen Landman appointed as new partner and building consultant

Thursday Sep 19, 2024

Today, on the day the firm celebrates its 105th anniversary, LIAG proudly announces the promotion of Harmen Landman to the role of partner. Harmen has been a trusted member of the Hague-based firm for 25 years and joined the management team five years ago. As a partner, he will lead the building consultancy department. “How can we further align the firm with market trends? That is something I find incredibly exciting and see as my primary task,” says Harmen. “A valuable addition,” say partners Carina Nørregaard and Thomas Bögl. “With Harmen joining the partnership, we are further strengthening LIAG’s unique character as an architecture firm with its own building consultancy department. Building consultancy remains an integral part of our approach. It extends beyond simply assessing the practical feasibility of our designs; it also allows us to effectively guide the successful execution of our plans."

At the forefront of advanced technology
Under Harmen Landman’s guidance, LIAG has implemented significant improvements in recent years, greatly enhancing project quality. In addition to streamlining work processes, Harmen has successfully led the integration of advanced digital technologies. Through the use of parametric design tools and virtual reality, LIAG not only guarantees high-quality services but also meets the needs and expectations of its clients. “We all benefit from this,” Harmen explains. “We are always thinking about how we can better leverage the tools at our disposal to serve our clients even more effectively."

“Harmen’s ability to identify and implement new possibilities has made our firm stronger. Thanks to his efforts, we not only meet the highest standards but exceed them."

Sustainable innovation as a necessity
Sustainability remains a central theme in the industry. Encouraging clients to prioritize this topic more highly continues to be a challenge. Here, too, Harmen plays a crucial role. Over the past few years, LIAG has developed a new tool: the so-called ‘Future Proof Performance Tool’. This tool, combined with BIM technology, provides real-time insights into the impact of decisions on the environmental performance and circularity of projects. “Fortunately, we often meet clients who challenge us to take things a step further,” says Harmen. “This has led to new collaborations across the supply chain. A great recent example is the development and introduction of new bio-based facade cladding on the market.”

“Harmen’s drive to explore and forge new collaborations across the supply chain motivates us – and our clients – to make additional efforts in advancing sustainability.”

Strengthening social impact
With Harmen joining the partnership, LIAG continues to build its social profile, where, alongside sustainability and user well-being, the feasibility and buildability of designs remain central. The use of new technologies ensures that LIAG stays ahead in a rapidly changing market where flexibility and forward-thinking are crucial. “The goal is to continuously optimize our expertise and approach,” emphasizes Harmen. “So that clients immediately experience the benefits of our approach. Innovation is not just a choice; it is a necessity to tackle the challenges of the future and maintain our leading position, as we have done for over a century."
