"We want to instill in our students that we are collectively responsible for a healthy and sustainable future. The relationship with nature plays an important role in this," says Managing Director Martin van den Berg. Thomas Bögl adds: "This is clearly experienced in the atrium, the vibrant heart of the building. Here, indoor and outdoor spaces merge naturally. The glass roof allows abundant light to enter, while the large plants contribute to the green atmosphere. Moreover, the floor-to-ceiling windows offer students an unobstructed view of the adjacent park."
"The atrium is truly an eye-catcher, as is the learning pit. This space provides a pleasant setting for instruction and smaller gatherings. The area is more intimate than the large assembly hall," explains Principal Loes Corbeij. "Outside, we also have a seating pit. It's a place where young people like to gather during their breaks." Thomas adds: "Simultaneously, this seating pit is one of the climate-adaptive features on the grounds. It functions as temporary water storage. It is thus one of the visible measures to make the property downpour-resistant."
